LAGOS, Dec 27 (AGCNewsNet) – Rema has released the haunting music video for his track "Ozeba," a nod to African cinema and inspired by a renowned Benin horror film of the same name. Translating to "trouble" in the Edo language, "Ozeba" encapsulates its theme through pulsating beats and intense, menacing lyrics. In Pidgin English, Rema declares, "I dey vex every day, only thing wey fit make me dey happy na ikebe," reflecting the song's fiery mood.
The single is part of Heis, Rema’s second studio album, which debuted in July and peaked at No. 7 on the US World Albums Billboard chart. The album, including hits like “Benin Boys” (featuring Shalipoppi) and “HEHEHE,” showcases Rema's creative evolution and unconventional artistry.
In a review by Uproxx, Wongo Okon praises the project, stating, “With Heis, Rema proves that he has no interest in being conventional. The album’s polarizing reception is precisely the shake-up Afrobeats needs.”
Rema’s daring musical choices were also spotlighted at Afro Nation festivals in Portugal and Detroit, where he headlined. "Ozeba" further solidifies his role as a leading innovator in the global Afrobeats scene, earning a spot on Uproxx’s Best Songs of 2024 list.
