JEDDAH, Jan. 24 (AGCNewsNet) – Nigerian forward Francisca Ordega has taken a significant step in her career, signing with Al Ittihad Ladies FC in the Saudi Arabian Women’s League. The move follows her departure from Russian club CSKA Moscow, where her contract recently expired.
Ordega, 30, joined CSKA Moscow in 2021 and became a standout player during her tenure. In 84 appearances, the winger scored 29 goals and delivered 20 assists, playing a pivotal role in CSKA’s triumphs in the Russian Cup and Super Cup.
Her transfer to Al Ittihad reunites her with Nigerian teammate and Super Falcons captain Ashleigh Plumptre, who leads the Saudi side. The duo is expected to create a formidable force as Al Ittihad aims to dominate the league.
On the international stage, Ordega has been an integral part of Nigeria's Super Falcons since her debut in 2010. She has represented the country at all levels, including the U-17 and U-20 teams, and has featured in four FIFA Women’s World Cups (2011, 2015, 2019, and 2023). A key contributor to Nigeria’s multiple Africa Women Cup of Nations titles, Ordega continues to be a beacon of excellence in African women’s football.
This latest chapter in her career underscores Ordega’s versatility and ambition, as she looks to make her mark in the rapidly growing Saudi Arabian Women’s League.
