LAGOS, Jan. 29 (AGC NewsNet) – The Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) has announced the opening of applications for its flagship Entrepreneurship Programme, offering funding and support to 5,000 entrepreneurs across Africa in 2025.
The initiative, aimed at fostering economic development and job creation, will provide selected entrepreneurs with seed capital of $5,000, mentorship, and business training.
"We remain committed to empowering African entrepreneurs and catalyzing economic transformation across the continent," said Tony Elumelu, founder of the foundation and chairman of Heirs Holdings.
The programme, launched in 2015, has since supported over 20,000 entrepreneurs from all 54 African countries. Applicants must submit their business ideas through the foundation’s digital platform, TEFConnect, before the deadline later this year.
The selection process prioritizes businesses with innovative solutions addressing key sectors, including agriculture, technology, and healthcare.
Past beneficiaries of the TEF Entrepreneurship Programme have gone on to scale their businesses and attract additional funding, contributing to Africa’s growing entrepreneurial ecosystem.
"The impact of TEF's support goes beyond funding; the mentorship and networking opportunities have been invaluable in scaling our business," said a past recipient from Nigeria.
The initiative aligns with broader efforts to drive sustainable development and economic resilience across the continent.
