AYEGBAJU-EKITI, Feb 3 (AGCNewsNet) – A newly discovered tourism site in Ayegbaju-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has sparked excitement among tourism officials, featuring a ‘mysterious’ tree and palm locked in what has been described as a symbolic embrace.

Ekiti State’s Director-General of the Bureau of Tourism Development, Wale Ojo-Lanre, hailed the discovery as a breathtaking ecotourism wonder, naming it The Mystery of Ayegbaju’s Tree of Love.

The site, found by environmental development expert and former World Water Council president Michael Ale, is within an agro-tourism farm owned by a private investor.

“At the heart of this discovery is a fascinating natural spectacle—a ‘marriage’ between a tree and a palm tree, locked in an eternal embrace,” Ojo-Lanre said in a statement.

He explained that unlike parasitic plant relationships, this bond is symbiotic, representing unity and resilience. Even after a fire incident, the tree shielded the palm from the flames, and in turn, the palm nourished the damaged tree back to life.

Adding to the intrigue, the intertwined trees feature a mask-like formation resembling a human face with distinct eyes, ears, and lips.

Ojo-Lanre emphasized that the discovery holds deep symbolic meaning, portraying the power of coexistence and interdependence.

“This is not just a sight to behold; it is an experience, a revelation, and an inspiration,” he added.

The Tree of Love is now being positioned as a major tourist attraction, further expanding Ekiti’s growing tourism sector.
