LAGOS, March 10 (AGCNewsNet) – Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recovered nearly $500 million in illicit funds and secured over 4,000 convictions in 2024, its highest since inception.
Some recovered funds were reinvested in government projects, the agency reported Monday. The EFCC also seized 931,052 metric tons of petroleum products, 975 real estate properties, and company shares.
Nigeria, ranked 140th on Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index, continues its fight against entrenched corruption, which many blame for the country's widespread poverty.
