NAIROBI, March 27 (AGCNewsNet) – Kenya has officially recognized Kosovo as an independent state. Kosovan President, Vjosa Osmani, confirmed on Wednesday.
Osmani welcomed the decision, calling it a significant step in affirming Kosovo’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. In a statement, she expressed gratitude to Kenyan President William Ruto for what she described as a “fair and important decision.”
Former Kosovan President and Foreign Minister Behgjet Pacolli also hailed the recognition, describing Kenya as “one of the most important countries in Africa.” He urged Kosovo to swiftly establish diplomatic relations with Kenya and consider opening a joint embassy with Albania in Nairobi.
Kosovo, which declared independence from Serbia in 2008, has been recognized by more than 100 countries, including the US and Türkiye. However, Serbia has continued to reject its independence, maintaining claims over the region.
With Kenya’s recognition, Kosovo strengthens its diplomatic standing in Africa, a continent where it has struggled to gain widespread acknowledgment.
