LAGOS, Apr. 27 (AGCNewsNet) - Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has launched an online registration portal and identity cards for members of his "Obidient Movement," aimed at supporters both within Nigeria and abroad.
The initiative was announced in a joint statement issued on Saturday by the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Yunusa Tanko, and the Director of Strategic Communications and Media, Nana Kazaure.
The statement said the project seeks to embody the spirit of diversity, camaraderie, and unity within the movement, while showcasing its widespread influence among Nigerians and diaspora communities.
The identity card, which features a QR code in the bottom right-hand corner for authentication, will also display the flag of the cardholder’s country of residence.
“Obidient registration portal supports Nigerians and fellow Obidients living in the diaspora," the statement said. "You will observe that the ID has a flag on it. For example, if you’re not a resident in Nigeria, the top right-hand corner will carry the flag of your country of residence.”
The prefix "OBX" is constant on all issued ID cards, whether for Nigerians or diaspora members, it added.
The QR code allows for quick authentication using any smartphone or QR scanner, providing what the movement described as a "secure and reliable" way for members to connect and verify their affiliation.
Obi, who ran in Nigeria's tightly contested 2023 presidential election, has continued to maintain a vocal support base, particularly among younger Nigerians and citizens abroad.
