LAGOS, April 28 (AGCNewsNet) — Media personality Nancy Isime has made history as the first woman to host the Headies Awards solo, a significant milestone in one of Nigeria’s biggest music celebrations. The organisers, HipTV and Headies, made the announcement via Instagram, revealing that Nancy would take the stage alone for the 17th edition of the awards, themed “Back to Base.”
“History made. And for the first time ever, a woman takes the stage alone to host the biggest night in Nigerian music. @nancyisimeofficial isn’t just returning, she’s rewriting the script. One mic. One Queen. One unforgettable night,” the announcement read.
Expressing her excitement, Nancy commented, “Can’t wait!” Fans are eagerly anticipating the event, with expectations high for a night of elegance, charisma, and unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, at the same awards, Tems won the prestigious Best Recording of the Year award for her single “Burning,” from her 18-track album “Born in the Wild.” The track, which highlights her exceptional artistry, saw her beat stiff competition from Seyi Vibez, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr ft. Giveon, Sarz, and Lojay.
The award, one of the most respected in Nigerian music, was announced and received on Tems’ behalf by her mother. Since its inception in 2006 as the Hip Hop World Awards, The Headies has grown into Nigeria’s most respected music award platform, celebrating the country’s biggest talents year after year.
Both Nancy Isime’s groundbreaking solo hosting role and Tems’ win exemplify the ever-evolving landscape of Nigerian music and entertainment, with both women making significant strides in their respective fields.
