ABUJA, July 17 (AGCNewsNet) – Nigeria's federal government has temporarily suspended its ongoing recruitment into key paramilitary agencies, including the Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigerian Correctional Service, citing technical upgrades to improve system efficiency.
The suspension was announced in a statement dated July 16 by Major General A.M. Jibril (rtd), Secretary to the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB). He said the recruitment portal will reopen on Monday, July 21, 2025.
“As part of an effort to optimize the efficiency of its system, the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) announces that the portal dedicated to the recruitment into its paramilitary agencies has been temporarily suspended,” said Jibril in the statement.
He explained that the pause in the process would ensure the platform is capable of handling the high volume of applications, enabling a smooth, transparent, and fair recruitment exercise.
“This development will ensure that the portal accommodates the high volume of applications while guaranteeing a smooth, transparent, and fair recruitment process,” Jibril said.
The statement reassured Nigerians that the Board remains committed to a merit-based process, and expressed appreciation for the enthusiasm of young Nigerians eager to serve in the country’s security and emergency services.
“We appreciate the enthusiasm and interest of young Nigerians to serve their country through these vital agencies and are committed to ensuring a fair and transparent recruitment process,” Jibril added.
This comes as the NSCDC announced on Wednesday that it had repelled an attempted bandit attack on a federal silo in Katsina, underscoring the critical role of these agencies in safeguarding national assets.
