ABUJA, Aug 25 (AGCNewsNet) — The Nigeria Police Force has repatriated a Chinese fugitive, Dai Qisheng, to Beijing after his arrest in Abuja earlier this month, officials announced Sunday.
The operation was conducted by the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja in coordination with INTERPOL NCB Beijing and the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria.
Police spokesperson DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said Qisheng, a gang leader wanted in Guizhou Province for orchestrating violent organized crimes, fled China in 2024 following a warrant issued by the Public Security Bureau of Zhijin County. He was apprehended in Abuja on August 8 and repatriated on August 15.
“This operation not only reaffirms the Nigeria Police Force’s resolve to ensure that no fugitive finds a safe haven within Nigeria but also reflects the strength of international partnerships in addressing the increasingly complex threats of global crime networks,” Adejobi stated.
Inspector-General of Police Olukayode Egbetokun said the case underscores Nigeria’s commitment to intelligence-sharing and global law enforcement collaboration.
“The arrest and repatriation of Dai Qisheng is a clear message to criminals worldwide that the Federal Republic of Nigeria will not be a hiding place for fugitives,” Egbetokun declared.
