LAGOS, Sept 24 (AGCNewsNet) – Airtel Africa Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Airtel Africa Plc, has announced an ambitious plan to directly improve the lives of 10 million people across the continent by 2030.

The initiative, unveiled Tuesday at a press conference in Lagos, will be driven through four core pillars: Financial Empowerment, Education, Environmental Protection, and Digital Inclusion (FEED).

“Our 2030 vision is a transformed Africa where over 10 million lives are directly improved through our interventions,” said Dr. Segun Ogunsanya, Chairman of the Foundation. “We are building a pipeline of talent and fostering innovation to ensure the global digital revolution leaves no African behind.”

Key projects under the initiative include Connecting Schools, which provides free connectivity and devices, and the Airtel Africa Fellowship, offering full undergraduate scholarships in STEM and tech-related fields, supported by mentorship and internships.

Airtel’s ongoing partnership with UNICEF has already connected more than 1,800 schools, benefitted over one million students, and trained 17,000 teachers across the company’s 14 markets.

The Foundation also plans to expand its Employee Volunteer Programme, channeling staff expertise into community projects across all operating countries, including Nigeria, Zambia, Malawi, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Group CEO of Airtel Africa, Sunil Taldar, emphasized the company’s broader mission: “We cannot thrive in a place that is not thriving. The Airtel Africa Foundation is our vehicle to catalyse transformation by systematically investing in the pillars that underpin a resilient and dynamic society.”
