NAIROBI, Sept 22 (AGCNewsNet) - Kenya’s national football team, Harambee Stars, has climbed six places in the latest FIFA rankings, following their impressive performances against Zimbabwe and Namibia in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Harambee Stars are now ranked 102nd globally, gaining 11 points to bring their total to 1,208, up from 1,197. Their climb is largely attributed to a 2-1 victory over Namibia and a goalless draw against Zimbabwe during the qualifiers earlier this month.
Kenya’s hopes of further improving their ranking lie in their upcoming match against Cameroon in October. A victory could propel the team even higher as they aim for better performances on the continental stage.
Meanwhile, Morocco, who reached the semifinals in the 2022 World Cup, remains the highest-ranked African team at 12th, moving up one spot. Senegal, previously ranked higher, dropped to 21st, while Ivory Coast, the current African champions, rose five places to 33rd globally, ranking third in Africa.
Globally, Argentina, France, and Spain maintain the top three spots, followed by England and Brazil in fourth and fifth places, respectively. FIFA rankings are calculated using the Elo Model, which adjusts points based on match results, importance, and expected outcomes.
