BANJUL, Mar 9 (AGCNewsNet) – The Gambia will host the first Gambia Cyber Security Global Summit and Award Ceremony on August 8–9, 2026, bringing together international technology experts, policymakers, and business leaders to discuss digital security and innovation in Africa.
The summit will take place at the Hon. Baboucarr O. Joof Conference Center and is being organized by Crown University International in collaboration with the Government of the Republic of The Gambia, the Gambia Telecommunications Company Ltd, and other development partners.
Professor Sir Bashiru Aremu, Africa Head and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Unity of Nations Action for Climate Change Council (UNACCC), announced the initiative in a media briefing on Monday.
Aremu said the event aims to foster collaboration and dialogue on cybersecurity challenges and opportunities in the modern information and communication technology environment.
The summit will be held under the theme “Cyber Security in the Modern World of ICT,” focusing on strengthening digital protection systems while promoting innovation and sustainable technological development.
According to the organizers, the event will bring together global experts, institutional leaders, and representatives from government and private sector organizations to explore strategies for improving cybersecurity frameworks across Africa.
The summit is also expected to feature the presentation of honorary doctorate degrees and fellowship awards to individuals recognized for their contributions to cybersecurity, information technology, and digital development.
Crown University International, a private global research institution registered in the United States, is partnering with several international organizations including the Global Chamber on African Trade, Rights and Economic Development (GCATRED) and Cybercop Global Council Africa.
Organizers said the hybrid event will be conducted both physically and virtually, providing a platform for networking, partnerships, and knowledge exchange among participants.
The summit is expected to highlight Africa’s growing role in global digital transformation while encouraging stronger cybersecurity collaboration across governments, academia, and industry.
