RABAT, Nov. 8 (AGCNewsNet) - The eight football clubs participating in the CAF Women's Champions League Morocco 2024 are set to receive a minimum of $150,000 each in prize money, following a significant increase in the tournament's total purse to $2.35 million.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the 52% hike in prize money as part of its broader commitment to developing women’s football on the continent. The competition, introduced in 2021 under the leadership of CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, has seen consistent growth in financial backing.

This year, the tournament winner will receive $600,000, the highest prize money in the competition’s history.

CAF President Motsepe emphasized the organization's dedication to promoting football at all levels, stating that the body plans to invest in youth academies for boys and girls and to continue increasing the prize pools for all its competitions.

"We want African football to be globally competitive and attractive. Developing women’s football is a priority," Motsepe said during the announcement.

The CAF Women’s Champions League has quickly grown in popularity since its inception, showcasing top female football talent from across Africa. With the new financial incentives, the competition is poised to attract even greater participation and interest.

CAF’s commitment aligns with broader efforts to empower women in sports, as the organization seeks to elevate African football to global standards while inspiring future generations of athletes.
